8P9TS / 8P2T

From 21st May - June 1st I was QRV from Hastings Barbados as 8P9TS (8P2T in CQWPX) Grid GK03EB.

The station consisted of an IC7000, 100W, an HF Windom @16M high and a pair of 4 ele 6M Yagi's, one to Eu and one to USA/VE.

The antennas were mounted on a tripod @8M and 9.5M above the ground. The lower USA/VE antenna was a bit too close to the hot water tank but there wasn't much else to tie it down to!

Unfortunately there was a lot of noise from the 35KV power lines and I had to run with the noise blanker in. The wasn't fun during CQWPX so I gave up!

You can see the windom, only if I could have an antenna this high at home!

There's a nice crackle coming of of these! With the NB off it was S7 on 6M beaming Eu, and S2 to the USA. It varied on HF but 80M was unworkable and I only heard a couple of stations on 80/75.

The local beach! Only about 5 minutes walk from the hotel. A day's rental of a sunbed was only $5B (That's $2.50US or £1.25)

The station was packed up on Saturday 31st at 2130z, this was the only time I could borrow the hotel's maintenance man's ladder to get back on the roof.

Total 6m QSOs: 298 50% Eu & 50% NA/SA. Total HF QSOs 365.
